What do you think about the fact that the obesity epidemic costs $1.47 billion a year in health care?
This Democrat wouldn’t tax someone for being fat.

Do you think this is a valid reason that help explain the childhood obesity “epidemic” as some would call it?

Teens are too good to go for a walk nowadays? Is that not the “cool” way to exercise or something? I’m confused. In my state 10% of teens are classified as obese. http://www.cdc.gov/HealthyYouth/obesity/facts.htm
admin answers:
Are you asking if they’re too cool to walk further than the 1/2 mile listed in the article?
I dont’ think that’s the problem, rather, many parents these days won’t let kids out of thier sight. I.e. “if i can’t see you from the front window, you can’t go there”
I get that the world is a scary place, but thats why i think people need better family planning. We live in a small community, my kid could walk 2 or 3 miles and he’d be safe. If you can’t afford to live in a safe neighborhood, why would you choose to have kids and raise a family there?
That being said, my kid gets a ton of exercise in the backyard, between the swing set, pool, trampoline, basketball hoop. He also plays sports year round. Not that he’d ever be obese, the kid is a bean pole….
I think obesity is because of lazy parents, who’d rather plop their kid in front of TV than take them to the park, or to baseball practice. Many of my son’s friends who don’t play sports, dont do so because thier parents don’t want to deal with the time committment.

Obesity ‘epidemic’?… What do you think?
In America the new panic is an obesity epidemic. We are so fat now that it is an epidemic. The problem is generally because we have invented new ways to do everything w/o ever having to bet off our @sses. Also the fact that GenX as it calls itself is raised to have no motivation or initiative just to be the sordid waste of time and space that serves no purpose other than to be painful byproduct of society’s many mistakes. But we still complain about how we don’t know how we ended up raising six year old sumo champs! Now we’re tryin’ to come up with methods to lose the weight… again w/o ever having to get off our fat @$$! Now the reason I’m asking is because I want to see if there are some other perspectives as to why or how we have turned into virtual blimps…
I always like a challenge so whether you agree with my assesment or not is irrelevant. I’ll end up choosing the best answer my self just tell me what ya think on the matter…
admin answers:
I agree. Too many people don’t want to do any sort of physical activity and eat too much fast food and then want an easy way to lose the weight. They claim they don’t know how they gained the weight, or say they have tried everything to lose the weight, and then sue McDonald’s for selling the food. I think that’s bogus. It isn’t any fast food restaurant’s fault that people don’t know when to stop eating. I hate people who get so fat and then want some drastic surgery to “fix” the problem. It’s really sad that being fat is considered a disease now. A disease is usually something you can’t prevent. Being fat is something you brought on yourself by not shutting your mouth and not getting off your ass. It’s really sad to see parents pumping their kids full of sodas and candy and fast food and then wonder how they end up fat. It’s no coincidence that fat parents usually have fat kids. They pass their own bad eating and exercising habits on to the innocent kids who then do the same thing. It’s sad. That’s all.

Liberals, Is The Obesity Epidemic Real, Or Just B.S?
Look at these boys! They’re so healthy! :

Oh wait, my bad, that was a photograph from the Great Depression… how did that slip in?
Yeah, the obesity epidemic was caused by those evil businesses adding dangerous chemicals!

On a serious note, do liberals really believe that we have an obesity epidemic? In my opinion, it’s because standards of living have increased so much, and the fact that the prices of food has gone down over the years. Maybe that’s why liberals like social programs so much…

@ Duct Tape : I stopped taking you seriously when you said “Franken Food.”

Jenny asks…
Are Democrats making up the ‘obesity epidemic’ in America?
The socialist liberals fund some biased research study and present skewed results as fact over and over until it become the truth to some people.
They simply want another reason to tax you and the McDonalds dollar menu.
I feel that raising the price of food for the specific purpose of making you eat less should be a hate crime.
