## Drank Too Much Water?

Okay, honestly don’t respond with rude things. I played Wii Fit today and jogged **a** mile **in** 8 minutes. I than drank **a** gallon of water within **a** 5 to 6 hour period. I’ve been to the bathroom non stop today, peeing. But I had no clue you could possibly die from drinking too much water. I only drank 1 gallon, **a** milk **jug** full. I had **a** headache earlier and I was dizzy. I’m scared that I can die from it.. My mom is management **in** medical records at **a** hospital and she’s taken many classes on health and everything. She says I should be fine but with everything I’ve seen online I’m scared. Will I be alright?

OK. You’ve gotten answers to the last two so I’ll answer the first two.

#1. The picture frame question. First draw yourself a picture….that always helps.

You know the picture area is 40*30 = 1200 cm^2. And you know that the area of the picture and frame is 1200 + 400 = 1600. Now, if you let the frame width be x then the total width including the picture is 30+2x and the length is 40 + 2x. So, you know the formula for the area of a rectangle is A = L*W and you know L = 40+2x and w = 30+2x and the product must = 1600.

So (2x+40)*(2x+30) = 1600 cm^2. Now expand to get 4x^2 + 140x + 1200 = 1600. Subtract 1600 from both sides to get 4x^2 +140x -400 = 0. Now factor 4 out to give x^2 +35x-100 = 0. Now solve the quadratic using the QF to get only one positive result for x which should be about 2.65 cm.

#2. I think you meant to say surface area of the cylindrical milk jug. Area of the base is just pi*r^2.

The area of the walls is just 2pi*r*h. You know h = 8 cm and you know total S. A. = 60pi.

So pi*r^2 + 2pi*r*8 = 60*pi. Now factor out pi to leave r^2 +16r = 60. Subtract 60 from both sides to get r^2 +16r -60 = 0. Solve by QF again to get r = 3.136 cm. That answers (a) but you can’t have 3 sig. Figs. Because h is only 1 sig fig and the 60 has only 1 sig fig so I’m assuming you meant 3 dec. Places.

(b) Volume of the cylinder is just V = pi*r^2*h…so 3.142*(3.136^2)*8 = 247.2 cm^3.

## what are the best at home exercises to build muscle and get in shape?

Okay so I am not looking to lose weight, if anything I would like to gain healthy weight and muscle mass. Over all I’m just looking to get **in** shape and have some muscle definition through out my body…

What are the different variations of push ups and what muscle groups do they focus on? I know some do chest, arms, ect. I just don’t know which does what and what is **a** healthy balance **in** working out those muscles…

Also I have been doing crunches, I counted up to 70 and got bored I can do more, but I don’t see the point **in** doing 70 or more crunches. So what are some good variations of crunches, and what muscle groups do planks mainly focus on?

My biggest focuses are my arms, chest, back, and abs. I have good muscle structure **in** my legs as I have done **a** lot of hiking, swimming, and horse back riding **in** the past. I plan on going **jogging** with my dog on **a** daily basis now to regain **a** lot of that muscle…

**In** February I am going to start p90x with **a** friend so I really just want to increase my muscle strength and endurance before then. Because right now I’m lucky if I can do 5 push ups with out having to stop (and thats girl push ups )

So any advice you can offer would be great, my biggest handicap is I have no money so I can not go to **a** gym and can not buy any new weights. I have two ankle weights that max out to 5 pounds each. So maximum 10 pounds all together. I know you can make weights with milk jugs and such, so I’m totally up for some creativity and making some things!

## The pony I’m sitting for seems bored. How can I entertain him?

I’m house sitting for some friends. They have **a** pony I’m looking after. His companion horse went back to it’s owner’s stable and this little guy is used to being around other horses and people (he’s **a** summer camp horse **in** the summer months). I think he might be getting bored.

I’ve got plenty of time to give to him but I don’t have money to spend on toys or treats. I’m not really sure how to play with or entertain **a** horse!

He’s **a** friendly and playful little horse. He’ll let me brush him for **a** little while but he seems to lose patience. He does seem to enjoy just having me around- he likes to come up to me and sniff my face and explore my jacket or whatever I’m holding with his nose and lips. He liked nibbling on his brushes, especially the rubber curry comb. Sometimes he’ll follow me if I jog around his pen.

I’ve heard about using milk jugs as toys **in** various ways, and I’m going to try that today. ANy other ideas for toys that I could find around this place? Are there other things I can do to play with him?

If you can get him out and walk him around out of his stall or pen. Just getting out and seeing new things will fight off the boredom.

## Wan’t to Loose 2-3 stone. Tips appreciated?

Well, I’m 5’00″ and I just weighed myself, An I can confirm I am 10st 2lb (142lb) give or take **a** few pounds from going to the toilet.

I know I am slightly over weight an I wan’t to get to **a** ‘healthy’ weight of 7-8 stone.

I’m not giving myself **a** ridiculously short period of time. I am giving myself until my 17th birthday **in** mid june.

I know i will have to be drinking **a** great deal of water, how many pint glasses would you recommended? (I say pint because I’m not going to get measuring jugs each time i wan’t **a** drink)

What other tips would you recommend? and how long **a** jog should i take each day?
