John asks…
Bmi??????????
my bmi is 17. is that too low or average? i eat enough food but size 00 pants are still to small for me. any suggestions cuz i don’t want 2 move to kid sizes again.
admin answers:
Yeah that’s a bit low, a healthy bmi would be around 20, give or take a point or two. You might want to try a high carb diet with a lot of protein. Also, you might want to try to drink one protien shake a day in addition to your current meals. Whatever you do DO NOT eat fatty, greasy foods to gain weight, this can lead to diabetis or heart disease later in life.

BmI?????///////////////////////////////////////?
Does the bmi thing really work???? MINE IS 41?? THATS BAD OR GOOD??
admin answers:
BMI is very inaccurate and is an outdated tool developed by the government to track statistical data. It does not take into account body composition, so most elite athletes with extra muscle mass and little bodyfat will register high on the scale, and anorexics low on the scale.
The best thing to do is get your bodyfat percentage tested. You can do this yourself with hand calipers, or find someone to do it for you (many health clubs have this service). Impedence scales and other such devices are very inaccurate, so calipers are your most accurate and viable means (total water immersion is actually the most accurate but not viable for most people).
